Project Experiance Summary
| Project # 8 | ||
| Project Title | : | Migration of existing sites to HP Framework |
| Duration | : | July 2007 to Present |
| Team Size | : | 1 – 5 (varies) |
| Description | : | Johnson & Johnson, through its operating companies, is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly based manufacturer of health care products, as well as a provider of related services, for the Consumer, Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices and Diagnostics markets. The following internet sites are migrated to the proprietary J2EE framework, which helps the maintenance work much easier. 1) http://www.prezista.com 2) http://www.thepill.com 3) http://www.topamax.com 4) http://www.topamax360.com The main challenge is in identifying and integrating common functionalities. All the applications are running in HP Framework. The Healthy Planet (HP) framework is an open, Service Oriented Framework which encompasses a variety of successful and popular open source packages. The framework is essentially a collection of services which are well defined, self-contained, and loosely-coupled together, meaning that they function independently. |

| Project Title | : | CCS Message Distributor |
| Duration | : | March 2007 to June 2007 |
| Team Size | : | 1 |
| Description | : | The Central Containerization Services (CCS) is a centralized repository of the shipment containerization information. It provides a location in the network for applications to query for the movement information (also known as HUMA) along with their handling unit containerization tree (HUCA). For current CCS implementation, there is a message distributor (MDS) to route the data based on the station code/service area to multiple CCS processes. Different data volumes destined for different service areas causes uneven data distribution to input queues of CCS. Uneven data distribution causes less parallelism, as some queues will be faster than others and resulting in CPU not fully utilized. Therefore, some CCS processes is idle in the production. The main objective of this project is to increase parallelism on CCS processes and maximum processing throughout when all queues are balanced. To achieve this objective, message distributor has to be re-designed and it has to able to re-distribute the message according to the new distribution algorithm. JMS and JTA supported by Spring Framework along with the Concurrent Utilities in Java 1.5 and Apache Avalon pool framework are being used for the technical implementation. |

| Project # 6 | ||
| Project Title | : | Merrill Lynch – Stock Quote |
| Duration | : | December 2006 to February 2007 |
| Team Size | : | 3 |
| Description | : | Merrill Lynch provides access to real-time stock quote information to its brokers around the world. These brokers may specify a portfolio of stocks (say 15-20) for which they need quotes. The quotes displayed on the portfolio are real-time and updated tick-by-tick. This has to be developed as a portlet (weblogic). The objective of this Proof of Concept (PoC) is to determine whether Reverse AJAX and related Web 2.0 technologies can be utilized to build a stock quote portfolio website that * displays real-time quote information * can deliver acceptable performance under high frequency, heavy volume load The Proof of Concept will be developed and evaluated using four approaches: * Reverse-Ajax based web application * Using long-lived http (Comet) with blocking I/O [Tomcat Application Server] * Using long-lived http (Comet) with non-blocking I/O [Glassfish Application Server] * Microsoft .Net based desktop (thick) client * Using a commercial third-party tool [Lightstreamer] |

| Project Title | : | Facility Code Mapping (FCM) |
| Duration | : | July 2006 to December 2006. (Onsite) |
| Team Size | : | 10 |
| Description | : | The project involved designing and developing a system to fulfill the new business requirements of DHL AP Auto Sort (AAS) version 1.0.0. The following details the high level in-scope modules of FCM v1.0.0: Facility Code Deriver – A module used to derive the destination facility code based on the consignee address field of SD. Data Correction Module – A module which allows AAS user to rectify the unknown addresses of Shipment Details (SD) (I.e.: Inbound SD without destination facility code). FCM is a module which can derive the destination facility code based on the SD’s consignee detail. In addition, it allows user to enter the learnt data (knowledge) into the system to improve the efficiency of the derivation. The challenge is that the only available detail for FCM to derive the destination facility code is the consignee detail in a SD. And most of the time, these details are incomplete, misspelled, wrong format and some even not entered. To overcome these difficulties FCM is really depend on how much learnt data it has. Message Queuing (MQ) is the only communication channel between AAS (AMG) and FCM. |

| Project Title | : | EPDS (Enterprise Provider Database System) |
| Duration | : | January 2006 to July 2006 |
| Team Size | : | 50 |
| Description | : | The project involved designing and developing a system to consolidate & replace existing applications that maintain the Providers (doctors & hospitals) information for WellPoint. The objective of the project is to build a foundation to enable the entry of Provider Data into a central repository and thus streamlining and standardizing WellPoint business processes. The EPDS centers on the heart of WellPoint’s business model of creating, tracking, marketing, and managing flexible, quality provider networks to support all lines of business, products and services. The intent of the project is not only to support existing business, but also to provide a flexible, configurable solution to enable future business initiatives and growth. The high level scope of the project is to replace the Back-end Hierarchical Databases (IMS DB) to Relational (DB2) databases to support the high-volume back-end activities and the Front-end (IMS DC) screens to Web Interface which will be in Java/J2EE technologies using WebSphere application server and DB2 database. The Front-end provides Data entry & Admin features and the Back-end provides extracts or query access to external systems. |
