the whole family on my childrens fathers side have hereditary angiodema they have prolonged and severe attacks and so most of the family my daughter has been in hospital 300 times and more nearly everyday like her grandfather and father she as syptoms of odema stress ,trauma and allergy are related to attacks the epipen does not work with this family and neither does ci inhibitor .when the stomach is swollen hospital admission is required if the swelling becomes acutely painful.the hands,feet, legs arms, bottom,and face swell to 3/4 tmes the normal sizeand mobility is resticted due to pain and swelling on admittace to hospital the treatment given is freshfrozen plasma,steroidsand adrenaline.tranexamic acid was found to prolong the attacks and danazol was ineffective,they cannot have dental treatment without admission to hospital and steroids given before and after with icu care ,they react to anaesetic and steroids etc r given before and after any operations with icu care after.they cannot have blood transfusions as it will cause them to die. the illnes in its extreme form can be debillitating and present it self on a daily basis in this familys case.they have had swellings to all body parst including the genitals .
