[edit] Choice of books
I have tentatively chosen the books by Lay, Meyer, and Strang, for the following reasons:
- The textbook by Lay is the most commonly used introductory linear algebra text.
- The textbook by Meyer is published by SIAM; it has clear explanations and very broad coverage, and is partially available online.
- The textbook by Strang is of excellent quality, and has accompanying video lectures:
-

- MIT Linear Algebra Lectures by Gilbert Strang: free videos from MIT OpenCourseWare
- Streaming MIT Linear Algebra Lectures at Google Video
