[edit] producing KoRn

Hi, who knows which KoRn song Perry has produced? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.175.99.12 (talk • contribs) 13:18, October 31, 2005 (UTC)

Does anyone konw if James Blunt and Linda is an item? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 211.31.222.215 (talk • contribs) 14:50, April 21, 2006 (UTC)

Um, seeing as she is gay, I doubt it.

[edit] Possible copyright violation

This seems to have been plagiarised from: www.lindaperry.net Rewrite it or I will take it down. -User:Shy1520 18:15, 21 August 2006 (UTc)

I concur. I have put up the copyvio template. Most of this article looks like it was copied from the bio tab on the Linda Perry Website.--Burzum 10:46, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
I always felt the article was press-releasy (and as it was added to, it became more of a strung-together discogrpahy/trivia thing). Anybody else want to start fresh with a new article? I can't get to this for a couple of days. --Dhartung | Talk 06:07, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

What are you talking about? I was the original author of this entry, which came from my own words! Although it's been added to along the way. In fact, Lindaperry.net used the material after it was first posted on here - which isn't wrong as it is public domain, no? Can you prove that lindaperry.net is the originator. Check the orignial posting of this article. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zerodegrees (talkcontribs) .

Oy, too bad you couldn't have shown up while this was in copyvio purgatory. I've investigated your claim, difficult now since the article history was deleted. I'm willing to believe you. Our article is archived (fortunately) here from March 2005, and at that time the lindaperry.net site was under construction here. I hope you understand why we need to be cautious with copyright, and why it's frustrating when sites copy our text without attribution (which is a violation of the license). I think this may be sufficient for deletion review, so I will open a discussion there. --Dhartung | Talk 04:42, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Discussion is here. I suggest you add a testimonial, but I don't know if your redlink user account is the same one used to edit the article previously or whether it will match up with an IP editor, which might be one thing a skeptical administrator would like to check. --Dhartung | Talk 04:49, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for researching the issue. I stand 100% behind the my claim of having originally written this article. I would like to further point out that Lindaperry.net may have an unfair interest in borrowing this material. Notice how the links had been edited to point back to lindaperry.net (ie the myspace site, which functions as an extension of lindaperry.net); furthermore, all the 'verifiable' official sites, as www.lindaperry.com, and www.killrockstar.com/lindaperry, were deleted and replaced with lindaperry.net. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zerodegrees (talkcontribs) .

(Please sign your posts using the button above or just --~~~~.) I have only researched a possible case, the administrators who monitor Deletion Review will have to look at the case and decide whether it has merit. I suggest you take your claims to that page, as there's no guarantee they'll check here before ruling. As I said, they may need to check the purged article history, if it's available (I think it is, but I don't know). Until that time reposting the material doesn't look like you're trying to resolve the problem through the correct process. --Dhartung | Talk 05:06, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
There may be merit to this claim, our original 2003 version of this article looks very different from that of the bio posted on lindaperry.net. Have the operators of this Linda Perry website been contacted? Can't sleep, clown will eat me 06:12, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
This isn't exactly true. The bios are still extremely similar (and it is obvious that one plagiarizes the other). But I now believe that Zerodegrees is correct on this (since the bios become more similar as the Wikipedia article progresses). I also did a quick google search and found that similar text is found on Linda Perry's MySpace page [1].--Burzum 07:07, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] History restored

I have restored the edit history of this article in good faith based upon the testimonial made by Zerodegrees (talk · contribs) and some findings of my own. If anyone has a better address than "catchall@lindaperry.net" for the registrant of lindaperry.net, please contact me privately via email so that we can attempt to resolve this issue. Thanks, this is fantastic. As for the e-mail I ran into a dead-end there myself, but I'll see what I can find. --Dhartung | Talk 02:04, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Update; I managed to get in touch with the owner of lindaperry.net. The person I spoke with was under the impression that since they helped contribute to the Wikipedia article, they were not obligated to source the biography text. I informed her that since she was not the sole editor of the text, she needed to credit all parties involved in accordance with the GFDL. Her response was less than friendly (read: LOTS OF CAPITAL LETTERS) and she implied that she will be removing the Wikipedia authored biography soon. If anything, this at least explains why the bio here and at lindaperry.net were at times being updated in tandem. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 18:23, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for taking the time to do this. It's unfortunate, of course, since we're perfectly happy to allow them to use the text with proper attribution, and we appreciate their updates to the article as well. (This does explain why so much of it sounded like PR.) --Dhartung | Talk 20:01, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discography

I've restored the discography section I put together a couple of months ago that was deleted[2] without explanation while I was unable to devote time to my watchlist. I'd just like to say I like some of the improvements and additions that I've seen recently, but ultimately the biggest problem this article has is that it's a laundry list -- "Perry did this, Perry did that, Perry cut a record with X, Perry produced one for Y" -- without much context or regard to significance. Most of those are best handled just in the discography listing and I had intended to work on merging/culling, but if someone else agrees with this direction that would be great too. --Dhartung | Talk 22:53, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
