Linguine (also spelled linguini, which is an anglicization)[citation needed] are a form of pasta — flat like fettuccine and trenette, but narrow like spaghetti. The name means "little tongues" in Italian. Linguine originates from the Campania region of Italy.[citation needed] Linguine alle vongole (with clams) is a popular use of this sort of pasta.

Whilst spaghetti traditionally accompanies meat and tomato dishes, Linguine is often served with lobster. Linguine is also slightly thinner and narrower than spaghetti.
