Lingfield Oaks Trial

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lingfield Oaks Trial is a Listed flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run over a distance of 1 mile 3 furlongs and 106 yards (2,310 m) at Lingfield Park Racecourse in May.

It is a trial race for the Epsom Oaks and recent winners of both races have been User Friendly (1992), Lady Carla (1996) and Ramruma (1999). The 1989 winner Aliysa also finished first at Epsom but was subsequently disqualified. The latest Epsom Oaks winner to have earlier contested the Lingfield Oaks Trial is Look Here, runner-up in 2008.

The race was downgraded to its present Listed status in 1986, prior to which it was classed as a Group 3 race.
