Lindis Percy

Lindis Percy (born 1944, Leeds) is a British peace campaigner, Quaker and founding member and joint coordinator of the Campaign for the Accountability of American Bases. She is a trained nurse, midwife and health visitor and has worked for the National Health Service her entire working life.

As an activist, she uses non violent direct action and civil disobedience and has been active protesting since 1979 when cruise missiles were to be deployed at Greenham Common. According to the BBC, Percy has been detained over 150 times.

She gained international media attention in November 2003 during a UK visit by George W. Bush when she scaled the front gate of Buckingham Palace. After reaching the top of the 20 feet high gate, she hung up an upside down U.S. flag with the words "the rogue state" and stayed there for three hours before coming down.

Lindis Percy is married, with three grown children and six grandchildren. She lives in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
