Talk:Lifeline (Stargate Atlantis)

[edit] cleanup

I'm a huge Stargate fan, but this Wikipedia article has significant problems.

  • First of all, the article is written solely about the content of the plot with no real-world perspective; as it stands, this article is simply a re-telling of the episode's plot and not an encyclopedic article. (Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction), WP:PLOT)
    • Wikipedia:Television episodes recommends that as a plot summary's purpose is "to provide context for the rest of the information. [...] As a rough guide, this amounts to no more than ten words per minute of screen time. For example, a 45 minute episode would warrant no more than 450 words." The plot summary here is effectively a blow-by-blow re-telling of the same copyrighted episode.
  • Secondly, the article needs evidence of "[having] received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject;" the article currently has only one reference, and it's not independent of the subject. (Wikipedia:Notability)

While this was a relatively important television episode and is certainly notable within the context of Stargate Atlantis, it needs the same relevant importance and notability within the context of the real world. Please don't interpret any malicious intent on my part, but if this article cannot be brought up to standards, I'll redirect it to List of Stargate Atlantis episodes and merge as appropriate. โ€” pd_THOR | =/\= | 17:52, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

I wasn't aware I was on a "crusade" when I originally did so, but Garda40 (talk ยท contribs) reverted my redirection of this page and then removed the {{notability}} tagging: "templete was added by an editor on a crusade and nobody bothered to remove it". The article concerns that the tags are in place for were not addressed in the two months since brought forth, so I redirected the page to the most appropriate destination. If Garda40 feels they can address these concerns, please by all means; but a lack of notability is still chiefest of problems, and as such I have replaced this template. โ€” pd_THOR | =/\= | 21:52, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Actually the editor on a crusade was this editor RMHED who went and tagged every other SGA episode of season 4 ,most of Heroes , a lot of Star Trek in a couple of hours around the same date as you added the tag here .It was a mistake on my part since I recalled an editor on a crusade adding tags to every SGA article forgetting about this one .
Redirect away if you want to since there is no point trying to improve it since articles on other programmes with more references but seemly lacking some "magical" number or right kind of references are being deleted .Garda40 (talk) 22:17, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

With no changes in the article for over a month, save the addition of {{trivia}}, I have again redirected this page to the apropos target: List of Stargate Atlantis episodes#Season 4. โ€” pd_THOR | =/\= | 18:03, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Sga-s04e02-0.jpg

Image:Sga-s04e02-0.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
