[edit] Four star Generals

Under the section "Famous American Lieutenant Generals," isn't it kind of silly to have all these guys who went on to four or five stars? Obviously, at some point, they were lieutenant generals. You could just as easily put them under "Famous American 2nd Lieutenants" or "Famous American Colonels." This should probably be limited to people whose careers topped off at Lieutenant General, or in the case of someone like Washington, was one, but was posthumously promoted. Grant I would keep too, because until they created a new rank in 1866, as a Lieutenant General he had gone as far as he could go. --Nobunaga24 02:33, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] George Washington

Note that I changed the article to say that Washington was a Lieutenant General when he was alive. - Shaheenjim 05:56, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merger of article

I have reverted the unauthorized merge of this article into General (United States). The reasons are listed under Talk:General_(United_States)#Investigation_into_non-consensus_merger. -OberRanks 03:23, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
