Talk:Lieutenant-Colonel (United Kingdom)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The article mentions: "A UK Lieutenant-Colonel is normaly paid between £143.37 to £162.89, UK Pounds". What is it referring to? olivier 05:11, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
I assume it means pounds per week, making a Lieutenant Colonel's pay about £75,000 every year
If it did mean per month that comes out at about £18,000, and this seems quite low for such a high ranking officer but I'm not a military expert so someone else should confirm this. --Ararararias 21:07, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- Actually it's the daily rate. If it were weekly it would be about £8,000 a year! According to the MOD, the annual salary for a Lieutenant Colonel (the MOD don't seem to hyphenate it, which is interesting) as of April 2007 ranges from £61,760.76 to £68,272.92 a year. Should there be a mention of the appointment of Regimental Lieutenant-Colonel, who I believe was the commanding officer of multi-battalion regiments (as opposed to the Colonel of the Regiment, an honorary position)? 195.92.40.49 10:52, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
