This is a Chinese name; the family name is Li.

Li Chao (born April 19, 1980) is a Chinese golfer. He lives in Shanghai and is single. He turned pro in 2003.

Li made an impressive pro debut in Asia at the Sanya Open in 2003, first shooting a hole in one on the second day to make the halfway cut. Continued to blossom as a player to watch for in the future with back-to-back top-10s at the 2004 Sanya Open and Carlsberg Masters Vietnam. Finished ninth in the 2005 Volkswagen Masters-China where he played alongside US Open champion Michael Campbell in the opening two rounds. Campbell was impressed with Li's game, saying he has a great future. Capped his 2005 by winning the China Tour Order of Merit with two victories. In 2006, Li finished tied 14th in the Volkswagen Masters-China. Grew up in Beijing but moved to Shanghai to pursue his golf career. His mother has been an influential figure in his career.
