Lhatse
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lhatse is a small town of a few thousand people in Tibet, just West of the mountain pass leading to Shigatse. There is a monastery on the outskirts of the town and an old fort not far distant. Because the roads to Mount Everest and to Mount Kailash divide just West of Lhatse, the town is a popular lunch stop for tour groups heading to those locations. Buddhist festivals are sometimes held at the monastery, drawing inhabitants from the surrounding region.
