Deutchse Lufthansa AG flight LH044 is an Airbus SAS A320 that had a near crash landing at Hamburg Airport (EDDH).
On Saturday March 1st 2008 flight LH044 encountered heavy crosswinds on approach, and when approximately 30ft from touchdown, a freak gust of wind brought on by low pressure and hurricane Emma forced the plane left, touching the left wing tip on the ground. The pilot immediately executed a missed approach, and successfully landed the second time.
The plane was carrying 137 people, none of whom were injured.
The near crash was not known about until amateur video footage of th landing was posted of liveleak.com.
The plane was back in service on Monday 3rd March.
