Lewis Black sounds a lot like George Carlin was an influence on him. -- THEBlunderbuss 12:08, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Is there a source for Black being a libertarian?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.185.213.33 (talkcontribs) 14:04, May 5, 2006
Sorry, I don't see that the article says that he is.--Deville (Talk) 19:20, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
It's in the categories section. I haven't verified yet, I'll try soon, but it could be wrong/unverifiable for all I know. --TM 21:17, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Oh, too right. Yeah, if we don't have some verification of this it should go.--Deville (Talk) 22:53, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Update: I did this search and as far as I can tell there is no relevant link. I think we should probably remove the category from this page.--Deville (Talk) 22:59, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
I just removed it. Once someone finds a source it can go back. --TM 16:26, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. I looked through the cat and there are a lot of people in that list. I think I might go through that cat and see who really belongs there. --Deville (Talk) 21:55, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

After a management change at the theater, Black left and began working as a comedian as well as finding bit parts in television and films. Now, he's totally hot and has starred in such films as Accepted, Unaccompanied Minors, as well as others.

[edit] Categories

One of the categories Lew is listed under is "Atheists", which I firmly believe is incorrect. Next, it's noted that he was an actor on Law & Order. Somehow, I don't see the connection. If he was a guest star, I don't see the significant pertinence of categorizing him as such. --EMC 02:45, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

By the way, I changed "Atheists" to "Agnostics", removed the Law & Order categories, removed the American Comedian category (since he's already categorized as a Jewish American Comedian"), and replaced his state of birth category. --EMC 02:59, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
Why do you say you think he's not an atheist? A few of his standup routines certainly suggest he is, particularly when he says he was "born Jewish" (as opposed to simply "Jewish"). --Saforrest 16:11, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

On "The End of the Universe," Black states that he has "no religion...I was born and raised Jewish, and that didn't work, and then I went to some of the others, and went, eh, f--- it." 12 April 2008

[edit] cited in The Nation

I don't recall the template name for this, but this article was cited in a Nation editorial on 12 June 2006. --Stlemur 16:18, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] gay marriage

i changed the sentance "apathy towards gay marriage" to "no opposition to gay marriage" because in 'red, white, and screwed', Black has a rant in which he makes it clear that he cannot fathom the arguments of those who oppose gay marriage, and adds that in this day in age there should be no tolerance for those who wish to ban it. [edit] personal life

I'm not sure he lives in Chapel Hill, NC. I live in Chapel Hill and I know that he went to school here, but I think I would know if he lives here.

Is Lewis Married? Kids?

Doesn't he has Parkinson's disease? In his stand up he is always shaking his hands and in Last laugh he mumbled words

I've never heard anything to that effect, I'm sure the hands are a supplement to his comedic style, and maybe he was off his game a bit at last laugh. His appearences on the Daily Show, for instance, are usually much more subdued, and he seems to have no trouble there. (Also, please sign your posts, &c.) Vbdrummer0 04:45, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

That's just part of his character. If you doubt me, then clearly you don't get pissed off enough.Mustang6172 05:53, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

On the bio on Lewis Black's site lewisblack.net it states he was born in Washington DC and raised in Silver Spring. The article cited for giving his birthplace as Silver Spring only says that he was raised there. Are there any other sources citing either place as his place of birth?

Sure -- the first sentence of his autobiography, Nothing's Sacred, says he was born in Washington, DC. That's about as authoritative as it's going to get. -/- Warren 08:16, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
He appears to have contradicted himself in the show Red, White and Screwed, as he said he was born in Silver Spring...little confusing when two different things are coming from the same guy. --Joshmaul (talk) 10:13, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I just watched "Red, White and Screwed" again and he says he was born in Silver Spring MD, but tells people he is from Washington DC as "... if you say you're from Silver Spring, people think you're a pussy!" Jdd204 (talk) 11:49, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

If we have to pick, then let's go with his published autobiography, which better meets Wikipedia's requirements of Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Reliable sources than one of his stand-up shows. -/- Warren 17:32, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Socialist?

I was just wondering where it has been stated that Black is a Socialist? I've never heard anything of the sort said, and was just curious.--SpudHawg948 (talk) 12:48, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

There's a quote in the second paragraph in the Comedic Style section. --TM 16:03, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup on Recent Career

I added the cleanup tag because a brief look at this article shows that some of the stuff listed in this section is listed elsewhere (like in the "Selected Film Appearances" list) and thus is redundant, and some of it just isn't notable at all. If I get time I will do it myself eventually, but I figured I'd tag it in case someone else wants to do it first. --Ig8887 (talk) 20:12, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

What ever happened to the Lewis Black's Red State Diaries show that he was working on ? Dowew (talk) 04:13, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
