"Let Me In" is a song written and recorded by American alternative rock band R.E.M. It is the tenth track on the band's 1994 album, Monster. The song was written for Kurt Cobain, who died shortly after the sessions for Monster started. Michael Stipe said that the lyrics of the song were basically what he would tell Cobain over the phone.[1] The song was recorded on Cobain's Jag-Stang, which Mike Mills played during the Monster Tour for performances of "Let Me In." Since Cobain was left-handed, Mills had to play the guitar upside-down.
