Wow, this is way too much information (about the shoot-out, I mean) for a biographical article. - dcljr (talk) 11:12, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Please. Wiki has articles telling us about every change of hairstyle of Madonna. This is an encyclopedia. Details about this event are significant; it was one of the only gunfights ever, in which someone attempted to assassinate a US President and failed. While I knew about this event from study of history, it was interesting to read how close these people came to actually killing a President: Gunfight in front of Blair House. 66.108.4.183 02:07, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. As the individual who created this article, that was my intention - to provide information about the attempted assassination, how it was foiled, and how close it came to actually succeeding. All of which highlight the heroism of Officer Coffelt.

[edit] Secret Service?

United States Secret Service states:

To this day, Coffelt is the only member of the Secret Service to die while defending a U.S. President against an assassination attempt.

This article reads, as if Coffelt was a police officer. What is true? --Abe Lincoln (talk) 19:10, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
