[edit] Controversies about the organisation

Many of the claims of this organisation is not true. For example India has many lesbian support groups and organisations. Pune itself had a very active group called Olava 4 years back. But LAI claims that there are no groups in India, and they are the first one. Also it should be kept in mind that there is a long history of lgbt activism and particularly activism against section 377 which criminalises same sex behavior. LAI suddenly comes out of nowhere and raising funds in the UK for lesbians in India has been condemned by many people in the community. Mostly the criticism is based on the fact that there is no community consultation or acknowledgment of ongoing efforts in the country. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.162.145.110 (talk) 13:33, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
