Leslie Ann Powers (born on September 12, 1971 in Washington, D.C.) is an American film and stage actress best known for her role as Penny Pingleton in the John Waters film Hairspray. On the dvd commentary track for Hairspray John Waters states that he doesn't know what became of Powers. In the movie she was Tracy Turnblad's best friend she supported her through out her fame in the 'Corny Collins Show'. She deeply falls in love with Seaweed - a black boy.
