Leroy Dunn

Leroy Dunn, Ph.D (born March 25th, 1925) is a retired economist and World War II veteran. He was born in Brooklyn, NY the third youngest of ten children. From 1942 to 1946, he served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps stationed in the South Pacific. After completing his service, he studied at American University in Washington, DC and received his B.S. in Social Science. After finishing his undergraduate studies, he went to work at the United States Federal Reserve as a research assistant. In 1956, he received his Ph.D in Economics from the London School of Economics. Around this time, his friend Paul Volcker introduced him to his wife Gabrielle (Weissrock) Dunn. In that same year he became an instructor in Economics at Brown University. From 1957 to 1987, he was a Professor of economics at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He has four children: Rebecca Dunn Reinmann, Louise Dunn, David Dunn, and Jonathan Dunn, and seven grandchildren. He currently resides in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
