Leonard B. Sand

Leonard B. Sand (b. 1928 in New York, NY) is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Judge Sand received a B.S. from the New York University School of Commerce in 1947 and an LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1951. He was nominated to the court by Jimmy Carter on April 7, 1978, to a seat vacated by Charles M. Metzner, confirmed by the Senate on May 17, 1978, and received his commission on May 19, 1978. He assumed senior status on July 1, 1993.
