This photograph shows the two first volumes of the edition of Giacomo Leopardi's Opere (Works) which was printed by Stella in Naples (1835). It was the last edition of Leopardi's works which appeared while he was living.

The first volume contains the Canti, the second contains the Operette morali, first part. The second part of the Operette never appeared, because the Bourbonian censors prohibited the complete edition and confiscated the volumes already printed. Therefore the two volumes shown by the photograph are rather rare today.

I have made this photograph myself on June 21, 2005; I also own the two books myself so there should be no juridical problems.
