From 1989 - 1990, Waste Management Director and 1990 - 1995 President of SPEC (Society Promoting Environmental Conservation), assisted to revise the GVRD Waste Management Plan and introduce hazardous waste reduction policies which brought a halt to the proposed new and expanded industrial sized hazardous waste incinerator at U.B.C and the refuse derived fuel (RDF) plant slated for Strathcona, a low income district in Vancouver.
