The name Lenoir can be spelled three ways: Lenoir, Lenoire or LeNoir (habit existing only in the US to distinguish the article within the name, not in Francophone countries). The spelling "Lenore" is used in one of Edgar Allan Poe's poems, and is mentioned in "The Raven". If spelled Lenoir, Lenoire (sometimes LeNoir in the US) it is pronounced "Luh-nwar". It is French in origin and means "The Black".
