Talk:Leif Garrett
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Uh, is this line accurate? I don't know anything about him, but the line seems funny: Garrett began his acting career as a five-year-old child molester -ab

- Good point, Eric. He was an American teen idol, now seemingly obscure. -- Zoe
I once read of him described as "the manufactured hero of the skateboard boom" but I forget where. 86.130.21.73 09:26, 29 January 2006 (UTC) Britmax 09:31, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Certain artcles online beef up his fame. He also seems to think he was a huge star. This may have been true for a little while (for about 2 months in 1978), but not to the extent that is sometimes claimed.
Leif's stardom in the 1970s seemed to mainly consist of posing for photographs rather than actually performing live.
- Not that you would think from some articles and quotes from Leif that seem to boast about his "great live sets" in 1970s. The way he and some crow on about him, you'd think he'd had ten number ones hit singles in a decade, not one number 10, which is the reality. Leif is the only (so called) "Superstar" that makes Billie Jo Spears look like the fifth beatle.
[edit] Leif Garrett and fame
In the mid-1970s ('76 or '77) he was on the cover of kids magazines like Dynamite and probably Teen Beat as well. He was good looking and probably a lot of 13 year old girls had posters of him. That said, a photo of him from this era really should be in the article, probably as the lead image. --Zippy 21:31, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Here's a link to a pinup poster of Garrett from a 1977 issue of Teen Beat. There are several more from this era on stuckinthe70s.com. --Zippy 21:36, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
