The result of the proposal was This seems to have been created under "legal drama", but evidence suggests that the standard genre name is in fact "courtroom drama". Googling produces 171K hits for the former and 700K hits for the latter; various variations intended to isolate articles about films/shows/television consistently give "courtroom" a 2 to 1 edge over "legal".

We might also consider simply splitting them. Certainly "courtroom dramas" (e.g. Witness for the Prosecution) are recognized as a genre unto themselves. It is possible that shows like L.A. Law which have a wider focus could be considered as a related but distinct genre. Mangoe 15:49, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

And we have Law and Order, also listed here, which is split into a policework section and a courtroom section within each show. It doesn't seem like a good idea to move if it will make the scope narrower than what is already mentioned in the article. Dekimasuよ! 08:17, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure where you are going with that comment, but if we split them, we could talk about Law and Order specifically under legal drama with reference to the courtroom drama part as a subcomponent. Mangoe 13:03, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
  • The beginning of Legal drama says "A legal drama is a work of dramatic fiction about law, crime, punishment or the legal profession. Subtypes of legal dramas include courtroom dramas and legal thrillers", as if not all legal dramas are set in a courtroom. Anthony Appleyard 15:23, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
