The Legislature of Liberia is bicameral, consisting of a Senate (upper house) and House of Representatives (lower house), same as the Congress of the United States.
In October 2003, a unicameral National Transitional Legislative Assembly (NTLA) was installed in place of the Legislature. Legislative elections were held in October 2005 and the elected members took office in January 2006.
