[edit] Circular redirects (species to genus)

Hi Leafeater! Noticed you had created a few of these, which others (like me) have been hunting down and destroying (not the ones you made in particular... more going after them wherever they're found.)

These cause problems for several reasons, not the least of which is giving "false positives" for pages when taxoboxes and links are wikified. In general, redlinks or stubs work better in th end, as they point to work that needs to be done by other editors (either in Category:Plant stubs or simply by virtue of having the red link in place). Readers can still reach the pages you are redirecting to by searching in any case, as the search will bring up all pages with the species name in question. SB Johnny 23:56, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
