Le Conte is called "The Home of The Stars" because many stars attended it such as Yvonne De Carlo, Betty Grabel, Nanette Fabray, Yvette Mimieux, Stuart Whitman, Mitzi Gaynor, Carol Burnett, and Jody Foster etc. and T.V. shows are still filmed there such as Even Stevens and Monk etc.
Le Conte feeds into Fairfax High School and Hollywood High School. LeConte Middle School is an urban, public middle school committed to meeting the instructional needs of early adolescents, building self-esteem. and developing a sense of moral and social responsibility.

Le Conte opened in 1922. In fall 2006, some areas which previously had a choice between Cheremoya Elementary School and Le Conte for grade 6 will now have to attend Le Conte for grade 6 [1].
