[edit] Police Numbers

I've placed a citation request on the statistic of 500 police officers in Monaco. I am currently in Monaco, and have been told today by a serving police officer that the police force here numbers well over 1000 officers. Perhaps someone with access to statistics or definitive information could investigate this?

Further to the above, I've just been informed by the central Tourist Office in Monaco that one of the facts they quote in tourist advertising is that Monaco has the highest proportion of police officers to population of any country in the world. Sadly they didn't have an actual number, although their belief was that the total exceeds 1000 officers. The request for definitive information stabds...!

I replaced your tag with citations. Bearing in mind that there are only 32,000 people there, 500 is well over 1 per 1000 people (claimed here). That's pretty huge, comparatively, and their claim of having the most police per capita is likely correct. For a comparison, there are about 1200 police for a population of 600,000 where I live. bobanny 22:16, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
