[edit] How to get your article Deleted at Wikipedia
It's simple, it's fast (or slow,) and it's done many times per day!
First, create an article! Anyone can. Many do. Not everyone does so well, and some of the commonest things you can do to get it deleted are:
[edit] Creating Your Article
- Make something up in school one day. Then write it up.
- Make a decision that Wikipedia is just your own personal web host, social space, or that you "deserve" your own article - bonus points for making a vanity page about yourself, your band, or anything else that you're so interconnected with that you can't see that its' existence as an encyclopedia entry is completely absurd.
- Libel a living person.
- Create a deliberate hoax. Hoaxes are always caught sooner or later. Usually sooner.
- Whatever you do, do it in such an egregious fashion, that every other Wikipedian believes that there is no way it can survive a deletion nomination, and so bureaucracy is ignored, so it can be blown away.
- Take that article that was just deleted, and repost it exactly as it existed before deletion.
If the idea of doing something that will get deleted almost immediately, you can move on to advanced steps:
- Create a twenty page article without including one source. Make every word true, just don't cite anything. Advanced technique: come up with a subject that is in no way, shape, or form verifiable.
- Write the article in such a way that nobody can tell the subject is notable. Even better, deliberately phrase your contribution that some will believe it and others won't. Game the system so that your article sits on the borderline. Revert any edits you don't personally agree with, even if they help to establish notability.
- Don't categorize your article. Do NOT create links in it to any other existing article. Make it so that there is no way humanly possible anything else in Wikipedia might link to it.
- Ignore the Manual of Style. Make your idea pop in such a way that people won't recognize it at all as a Wikipedia article. (Note: This rarely works by itself, but can be a big plus combined with the above ideas.)

Note: No, this essay is not entirely serious. It's a way to humorously describe the most common ways articles violate Wikipedia policy, and wind up nominated for deletion.
