[edit] Glonass launch template
- Initial comment copied from: User talk:Sdsds#Glonass launch template.
Hey there,
Wanted to touch base with you. I like the idea of information on up coming launches, but I really don't think a large blue box at the top of the article is the right way to handle it. The whole news vs encyclopedia thing, and focus of the article. Perhaps a GLONASS launch article, with stub in the main article, and then that article can have the template at its top. What do you think? - Davandron | Talk 00:50, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for commenting on this! I'm very happy to discuss the whole situation! First, I wonder if you are familiar with the {{Launching}} template in general? It has been used quite a bit recently for just this kind of situation -- indeed, several of us have had the goal of using it for every orbital launch attempt. If you aren't familiar with how many of these there have gotten to be recently, take a peek at 2007 in spaceflight! The orbital launch rate has truly become incredible. A week or so before the planned launch, the Launching template has been used to place "current event" article message boxes on the pages for the payload, the launcher, the spaceport and the launch service provider. They really do get updated as the launch progresses to lift-off and final orbit. But maybe you knew all this, and are commenting on the relatively new innovation of creating an "uber-template" like GLONASS/Launch that simplifies the process of keeping the details consistent on all those pages? Any way it turns out, I'm psyched to make contact with another editor who cares about these articles. Best wishes to you -- greetings of the season, and all that!
