Lately" is a love ballad recorded by R&B girl group Divine. The song was released as the group's debut single in 1998 and quickly became a hit. It debuted on the U.S. pop chart at number thirty-six and eventually hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in November of that year. The single was certified platinum for sales of over 1 million units in the US.
"Lately" is Divine's only top ten single. Their follow-up, a cover version of George Michael's "One More Try" peaked at number twenty-nine. "Lately" was the last song to top the Hot 100 before Billboard magazine changed its policy to allow airplay-only tracks to enter the chart.
