In May 2008, the competitive reality show Last Comic Standing began airing its sixth season on NBC with Bill Bellamy continuing as host from season five with a new co-host, Fearne Cotton.

[edit] Auditions
Auditions were held in the following cities on the following dates:
- Los Angeles on January 29, 2008 at The Improv . Judges : Oscar Nuñez and Angela Kinsey
- New York City on February 7 and February 8, 2008 at Gotham Comedy Club. Judges : Steve Schirripa and Richard Belzer
- Toronto, Ontario, Canada on February 14 at Yuk-Yuks. Judges: Dave Foley and Richard Kind.
- Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 19 at the Acme Comedy Club. Judges: Brian Baumgartner and Kate Flannery (from The Office).
- Houston, Texas on February 22 at the Houston Improv. Judges: Neil Flynn and Alfonso Ribeiro.
- Tempe, Arizona on February 26 at the Tempe Improv. Judges: Fred Willard and Kathy Najimy.
- San Francisco, California on February 29 at Cobb's Comedy Club. Judges: Joshua Gomez and French Stewart.
- Nashville, Tennessee on March 3 at Zanies. Judges: George Wendt and John Ratzenberger.
- Miami, Florida Judges: Lonny Ross and Keith Powell
[edit] Surprise club visits
In addition to these scheduled auditions, LCS host Bill Bellamy visited several clubs in different U.S. cities during the audition period, with the comedians apparently not knowing they were secretly being judged for the show. At the end of the show, Bellamy would take the stage and announce who would be invited to compete for a spot in the finals. Some of these visits included:
- Atlanta, Georgia on Monday, February 11 at The Punchline. Josh Sneed and Special K were awarded flights to New York City to audition at the Gotham Comedy Club. The other comedians who performed were Punchline owner Jamie Bendall (MC), Derrick Tennant, Tim Gaither, Mia Jackson, Scotty K, Cory "Zooman" Miller, Dan Mengini, Matt Davis and Keith Terry.
- Royal Oak, Michigan on Saturday, February 16 at The Comedy Castle. Marty Butler and Crystal P were invited (and given plane tickets) to the Minneapolis auditions on February 19. The other two comedians in the show were Gary George and Keith Ruff.

The comedians making it through in New York were Louis Ramey, God's Pottery, Stone & Stone, Dan Naturman, Esther Ku and Aparna Nancherla.

The comedians making it through in Toronto were Sean Cullen and Winston Spear.

The comedians making it through in Minneapolis were Pete Lee, Dan Cummins and John Evans. Tim Harmston, Doug Mellard, Mary Mack, Tracey Ashley, Bengt Washburn, Greg Warren, Darlene Westgor and Chuck Bartell also participated in the showcase.

The comedians making it through in Los Angeles were Erin Foley, Ron G., Eddie Pepitone, and Jackie Kashian.
[edit] Semi-Finals
The semi-final round was held in Las Vegas, Nevada from March 28-30, 2008. Several of the acts selected to move on were not invited to the semi-finals. From there, 12 will be Selected to move onto the Challenge part of the Competition. It was revealed that the season finale would also be taped in Las Vegas.
