Description	Flag depicting the dynastic Arms of the Lascaris [Laskaris] family (c. 1210). Originally a noble family of Constantinople, its members fled to Nicaea after the Fourth Crusade. Theodore I Laskaris was proclaimed emperor in 1205 and established the Empire of Nicaea. The Laskarids ruled the empire until 1261, when Michael VIII Palaiologos was proclaimed emperor. Or, a double-headed eagle Sable, beaked Gules, beneath an eastern crown Or.
