[edit] On me

I would have used Artrix, my customary name, but it was already taken. I am a British Student, currently studying Philosophy, Physics, Economics and Maths. I wasalso a member of NAGTY until it died, and one of the most prolific posters. Interestingly, without this line the little boxes go into the wrong place. Somewhat ironic, as the line that origionally kept them there was 'I hate my userpage', which I removed becuase they are on the right. Removing that line, when I no-longer hated it, caused them to suffle again, reigniting my hatred! :) And now I realise that was all dependant on screen size...

Currently I'm puzzeling over to what extent society creates individuals, and what bearing this has on rights. Hmm. A worthy subject for the college paper methinks.

I waste time on xkcd, Wik Vying Games, Nationstates and Wikipedia. _ _ _ _ My Blog

[edit] POV

Here is my own point of view. It also covers a story about starfish.

[edit] Quality

I have never knowingly added a false statement to wikipedia, nor added a citation that does not explicity support the statement mentioned.

[edit] Glory of the skies

Right, I want you to imagine there is a video here of my glorious flight. Actually, make sure you don't picture the one where I nearly flew into my head (wondering what maniac was flying, before losing any vestige of control), nor either of the ones where Sam hit. Conjure in your minds the image of my fantastic skills, where I performed many tricks (like not crashing for more than 30 seconds!). Even as I apologise in advance to the innocent bystanders.

[edit] The world is round

I was on the beach near the pier. Looking through it, I noticed that one of the horizontal struts aligned perfectly with the horizon, looking like a new land, a new shore. After pointing this out to Alice, she said that it didn’t look like that to her, as she was slightly above me. This showed to me how much difference a minute change in height can make, as she was only about a foot above me on the bank.

I then begun to wonder why, when one sees a shore, it projects at the same time above the sea and below it. I quickly realised that it projected above because it was higher than the sea. But why below?

It was at this point that I realised that, as the earth was a curve, the horizon was simply the furthest away bit of sea I could sea, and that this shore was closer, and so lower.

Hang on, I thought, why can I see all this sea if it is curving away from me? Surely it should be hidden from me? The only conclusion I could reach was that I was raised above it, and so the hypotenuse on this triangle allowed me to see further.

But I was on the beach! Barely above sea level! How could I see so much sea? Surely, if that were true, if I lay next to the sea (I had already soaked my shoes through and through), I would see no sea but a thin streak?

I laid down next to the sea, and did indeed see a thin (white, from the foam) streak.

As I raised and lowered my optical receptors relative to the sea-shore meet, it seemed to me that different areas of sea seemed to grow and shrink at different rates, depending on how far they were from me. I quickly realised I needed an objective measure of this, and, with the guidance of His Noodly Appenditure realised the pier would be prefect.

I positioned myself next to it, and took note of one of the prominent supports, which entered the water in such a position as to divide what I could see of the sea roughly into two equal sections- above (towards the horizon) and below (towards me and the shore).

I then lowered my head by entering a kneeling position, and, from here, a much higher percentage of the visible sea was on my side of the support.

From this I concluded that the earth is round and as I lowered myself down, more of the earth’s surface was curved out of sight.

I explained this, and, despite my friends’ initial incredulous response, Joe was genuinely impressed. I then said, ‘and on that bombshell, I shall depart’, which he thought was very cool.

[edit] My contributions

My first article: Teechers _ _ _ _ _ My contributions

I've just done a massive set of changes to An Inspector Calls With no red tape or consentiuos- I asked and no-one replyed, so I was bold. Split the Article up because it was becoming so big. Itr seems that that artical goes through one set pattern- GCSE students add tonnes of stuff that doesn't belong, then one every few months I remove whole paragrapths in one go.

I am proud to announce that I have defeated the evil forces of darkness and collectivism: Orient Paper Mills lives! Huzzah!
