LARP Alliance larpalliance.net is a worldwide non-profit organization established in 2001 by Rick McCoy, Adrianne Grady, and Chris Vrem, that was created to improve communication, support, and education regarding Live Action Roleplaying - LARP- both to the general public as well as to and amongst LARPers.
The LARP Alliance initiated programs within the community; many that had not existed and enhanced those that did to a scale that had not been done before. Aiming to motivate and inspire the LARP community, they include spotlighting LARPs and LARPers, creating public event calendars, promoting LARPs via websites and articles, and offering services to assist in the enhancement of the LARP community's visual and audio presentation within itself and to the general public.
Fighter practices are held in multiple regions to spotlight various LARP styles (such as IFGS, NERO, Adventures Unlimited, Dagorhir, and many others), and LARP Meetups are held to discuss and brainstorm over LARP concepts and the overall state of LARP in the world. The LARP Alliance is behind a number of large and small game rules revisions and creations currently in use across the US (Realms of Conflict, Live Effects, Eidolon, and others).
The LARP Alliance runs multi-LARP events and games in a variety of genres in addition to running gatherings, carpools, and charities in order to provide many sources and opportunities for more information, styles of gaming, positive morale, cross-over LARPers' characters, and media interaction.
They have published various newsletters and articles throughout SoCal and are the directors and distributors of a collection of original LARP-inspired songs and comical audio pieces (in conjunction with Knollwit Studio) in the Audio CD "Gallivanter's Rhapsody in LARP-Major".
Their work has included assisting LARPers with their on-camera presence, alerting them to media opportunities such as WebTV programs, History Channel, Documentaries, and Movies, and connecting LARPs and LARPers with legal advisors. They have also brought together LARP-artisans (costumers, weapon and propmakers) with media project directors such as with Ironliege in conjunction with David Wain's movie "Mentors" - LARPers also were contacted and brought into the project spanning from the US to the UK ([IFGS], [NERO], Maelstrom, Dagorhir, Adventures Unlimited, Eidolon and more were represented).
The driving force behind LARP Alliance continue to provide ideas to various LARPs and LARPers and showcase new acting/fighting/rules techniques at LARP Alliance events and conventions (WorldCon, GenCon, ComicCon).
LARP Space larpspace.com is another addition to their global outreach program, which assists in connecting LARPers to eachother and to event promoters.

[edit] In-Game Tools
The Adventurer's Guild (aka The Academy) is an in-game and in-character assistant directed at newbies (new LARPers or LARPers new to a specific game). This traveling unit provides game rules instructions and character skill practice, teaches strategy/battle prep, all while keeping players in-character and giving them each specific character plot. There currently is no other group which does this.
When The Academy is not in function, the flow of game involvement continues via distribution of character tales, "During Game" cooking recipes, acting and costuming tips, and safety instruction.
[edit] Other Contributions
They have contributed hundreds of weapons and props/sets/effects to LARP functions and players in order to showcase new product and provide gear to those who have none. They often are known to contribute other items and labor such as food, cooking and construction labor, and talent (musicians, actors, dancers, etc) to enhance the atmosphere of the games.
