The Lao Song are said to be descendants of Laotians who were captured by the Siamese during the 18th and 19th centuries.

There are approximately 34,000 Lao Song spread out over Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan, Ratchaburi, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Chumphon and Nakhon Pathom Provinces.
