Talk:Lane Cove Tunnel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There is no mention of the collapse of this tunnel during construction. This had a huge impact on tunnel construction, financing and insurance in Australia!
There is a Lane Cove tunnel page which has a bit more info in it. Should be made into one, depending if tunnel should be a capital t
Tunnel air filtration is not a proven technology. There is no proof that it increases outside air quality, amongst other things. It is a huge burdon on greenhouse gasses. Refer: www.innovatieprogrammalucht.nl/data/Air%20Cleaning%20Report%20Mch%2006.pdf
The assertion above is completely false. Tunnel filtration is proven technology that has been in place in other countries for over 25 years. Current technology would enable emissions to be filtered to 0.03 of a micron which is approximately the size of a virus. Tunnel filtration is world's best practise and incidentally an excellent way of removing the emissions of 100 000 cars each day from our atmosphere over the distance of the Lane Cove Tunnel. http://www.madas.net.au/articles_sc/Tunnel_%20filtration_%20paper_%20Mark_%20Curran_27_1_2003.pdf
[edit] Another toll road

[edit] Changes to epping road
This article seems to fail to mention any of the changes to epping road, almost neatly stepping around it in a kinda pov way with "bus lanes will be available". I understand this is a slight modification of the facts (correct me if a am wrong) But wont epping road be reduced to one lane in each direction + one bus lane, as part of the contract?

- I note that 210.8.208.200 (talk · contribs) (an IP address which belongs to Transfield Services) made a significant change to this part of the article today, changing the sentence "When the surface road changes are completed, the existing Epping Road will have 24 hour bus lanes each way, a larger median strip and other measures to move motorists towards using the new tunnel." to "When the surface road changes are completed in February 2008, the existing Epping Road will have 24 hour bus lanes each way and other measures to improve public transport in the corridor." I am of the opinion that both of these statements fail NPOV, as both the public transport improvement and the traffic funnelling need to be covered in the article for NPOV. I don't have the time right now to go digging but I'd expect that the cross city tunnel article would have some information about the funnelling controversy, and I believe that this really should be explained in this article too. Further, I'm taking this the Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board as a possible conflict of interest issue given the clear POV spin contained in the edit and the ownership of the IP address. --Athol Mullen 03:12, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
