Talk:Landslide victory

I would like to see the origin of this phrase discussed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.206.63.34 (talkcontribs)

"Landslides can occur when one candidate or party is perceived as far superior to their opponents, through unfair elections, or as a result of particular voting systems which may produce distorted or disproportionate results. See bloc voting, and the unanimous 2002 re-election of Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, criticised by external observers as fraudulent."

this suggests that landslides only occur when someone is cheating or the voting system is biased. This is false. Thedreamdied 11:56, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. Removed second line, citing WP:Undue weight. --HailFire 10:22, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Is it really appropriate to put the landslide senate victories here? I mean, Kerry may have gotten 85%, but running against a libertarian is like running unnopposed. It's actually, if anything, an embarrasment that Kerry and the Republican could only get 80-85 percent against a third party candidate. Certainly there have been much worse - contested - landslides in history. 74.251.26.193 (talk) 09:27, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
