The journal Land Economics (Land) is a peer-reviewed journal of dedicated to the study of land use, natural resources, public utilities, housing, and urban land issues. It is also considered to be one of the leading journals in the field of environmental economics.[1]
Established in 1925 by the founder of the American Economic Association, Richard T. Ely at the University of Wisconsin, Land Economics specializes in publishing innovative, conceptual, and empirical research of direct relevance to economists. The journal offers international applied research on such topics as transportation, energy, urban and rural land use, housing, environmental quality, public utilities, and natural resources. The journal eschews highly technical theoretical articles and emphasizes applied and empirical research, clearly explained.
In addition to regular articles, Land Economics also publishes comments on articles previously published in the journal, along with replies from the original author. There are also book reviews for selected recently released books and a full list of books received.
For three decades, the editor of Land Economics has been Daniel W. Bromley [1], the Anderson-Bascom Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Bromley was selected as a Fellow of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economics in 2007.
Back issues of Land Economics beginning with volume 24 (1948) are available online at academic and public libraries and research institutions that subscribe to the JSTOR digital archive.
