Lancelot Charles Tendai Chipangura (born February 28, 1980) is a Zimbabwean Pharmacist based in Mutare. He is the eldest son of Theophilus Chipangura and Elizabeth Nyandoro, and is currently working for Africa University in Mutare. He is married to Nicola Tariro Chipo Gwatinyanya.

[edit] Early Life

Lancelot was born in Chimoio, Mozambique were his parents were fighting in the Second Chimurenga against the Rhodesian Ian Smith regime for the Liberation of black Zimbabweans. He is the son of Theophilus Philip Tendai Chipangura(who passed away in November 2004)and Elizabeth Nyandoro (a clerk at EMRAS in Mutare). After the war Elizabeth found work as a police officer in Harare and Theophilus worked for the customs office. They later on moved to Masvingo in 1982 after their second child was born (Gloria Tatenda Talent Chipangura). In 1986 Theophilus and Elizabeth moved to Mutare after finding work in the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture and the Ministry of Education respectively. Lancelot attended Mutare Junior School from 1986-1992, then later on did his Secondary Education at Nyanga High School from 1993-1998. After completing high school his parents wanted him to become a Medical Doctor, so he joined the University of Zimbabwe as a Medical student in 1999 but after orientation decided that he didn't want to become a Doctor. So he then joined the School of Pharmacy at the university, much to his parents' disapproval.

After graduating at the University of Zimbabwe in August 2003 he started working for M.J. Chemist (pvt) ltd a Pharmaceutical Company owned by Michael Hamadziripi a local Pharmacist and Businessman. He became one of the most prominent pharmacists in Mutare because of his good manners, big heart and hard work. This caught the eye of a local Lawyer by the name of Tapiwa Kujinga who was heading a Community Advisory Board (CAB) for an HIV vaccine Clinical Trial, that was developed and manufactured in Memphis, Tennessee by St Jude Children's Research Hospital. Tapiwa invited Lancelot to be a member of the CAB in 2005. In 2006 Tapiwa had to leave Mutare and Lancelot was voted in by the other board members as the new chairperson for the CAB.

In July 2007 Lancelot and a team from Africa University - St Jude Research Project went to Memphis for protocol training in preparation for the HIV Vaccine Clinical Trial. Later on, in November the pharmacist (Stanley Chindove) of that team had to leave for the United Kingdom to join his wife, and the project subsequently hired Lancelot as their new pharmacist. He works for the project now, were he is responsible for ensuring the smooth daily operation of the Research Pharmacy; managing all aspects of investigational product(s), including, but not limited to, accountability, randomization, shipping and validation.

His primary responsibilities are to:
1. Manage investigational product(s)
2. Coordinate activities with other functional groups involved in the project as appropriate to the role of Research Pharmacist
3. Ensure integrity of investigational product(s) during transport
4. Be the primary Africa University contact for all matters relating to the Research Pharmacy including liaison with the Contract Research Organization and such professional/regulatory entities as the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) and the Pharmacists Council of Zimbabwe (PCZ).

Lancelot got married to Nicola Tariro Chipo Gwatinyanya in October 2006. They reside in the low density surburb of Palmerstone. Nicola works as a Nurse at the Mutare Provincial Hospital since 2003. They dated for 4 years before getting married.
