[edit] Summary

Young Lang De girls awaiting their turn to perform a traditional welcoming ceremony for a bus of tourists. The amount of silver worn is considerable although pieces that look very heavy such as; the necklace, crown and tear-drop shaped baubles are hollow. Other hanging ornamentation on the head-dress and body is flattened sheet silver. In contrast, the clothing is a heavy fabric, heavily embroidered; and therefore of considerable weight. Note the girl, second from left is checking an allocation of vouchers given to the village by the tour party. The vouchers value varies depending on the number of performers and the needs of the commune. Girls of this age receive around ¥2 per performance as of mid 2007. More senior villagers would receive comparatively more.
