Lampricide
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lampricide is a chemical which is designed to target the larvae of Lampreys in river systems before their recruitment as parasitic adults. TFM ( 3-trifluoromethyl-4-nitrophenol) is one such chemical [1] While effective in that it typically doesn't harm other fish due to the evolutionary relationship between true fish and lampreys[citation needed], lampricides can be problematic for amphibians such as mudpuppies (genus Necturus) which often share the same habitats.
