[edit] Overview

The shop as well as the informational internet site has a strong focus on art comics, underground comics, graphic novels and autobiographical comics. The exhibitions can be profit or non-profit, depending on the subject of the exposition.

The name Lambiek originated as a misspelling of the name of the character Lambik, from the popular Suske & Wiske comic book series created by Belgian artist Willy Vandersteen.

[edit] Lambiek.net

Their website features online exhibitions of art, an extensive history of Dutch comics, and their Comiclopedia, which has entries on thousands of creators from all over the world. The Comiclopedia is the biggest on-line library about comic artist biographies. It focuses mainly on the cultural aspects of the medium. (In general, different from the U.S., superhero comics are considered pulp lecture in Europe.)

Kousemaker has also published books about Dutch comic culture.

[edit] Awards

Kousemaker was the recipient of the Order of Orange-Nassau medal from the Netherlands for his special dedication to the history of comic books.[1]
