As for this map: what would be great is if we had a map with all the place-names mentioned in the overview section. On Lamu island that would mean Lamu Town, Shela, Matondoni and Kipangani. Obviously, Lamu town is the most important (=World heritage center, etc), then (IMO) Shela. All the villages on the islands are placed by the sea. Lamu town is about half-way-up on the Eastern shore-line, while Shela is at the most South-Eastern tip. The map: http://fallingrain.com/world/KE/2/Lamu.html is not very accurate, but the yellow dot at the top would indicate Matondoni, while Kipangani is exactly at the opposite side of the island of Lamu town. --On this map now: what is denoted as "Lamu" seem to be too way inland, and half-way between Lamu town and Shela.
As I have mentioned elsewhere: one of the things which are confusing is that the same names are used to denote different things: i.e. all the main islands (Lamu, Manda and Pate) also have towns/villages named the same as the island. Therefore I try not to use only the name Lamu, Manda or Pate, but instead use: Lamu island, Lamu town, Manda island, Manda town, etc. Regards, Huldra 05:52, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
