The dam was created in 1939 but the bridges across it were built in 1889-1891, 1917 and 1924? I don't get it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 10:05, 19 October 2006 (talk • contribs) 152.91.9.115

What don't you get? The river was an obstruction. Somebody built a wooden bridge across it around 1889, completing it in 1891. Some time later, for reasons not stated in the article, that bridge needed replacing. A newer bridge was built commencing in 1917 and not completed until 1924. That bridge was high enough to still be above the water level when a dam was built slightly downstream of it in 1939.
There is a photo of the current bridge at the bottom of [1] but it does not clearly show the dip and bend. A photo of the original bridge [2] shows it to be similar to many other bridges across the upper Murray such as the two photos of the Tooleybuc bridge on Murray River crossings. --Scott Davis Talk 07:44, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
