Lakeridge Health Corporation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Lakeridge Health Corporation is the governing body of hospitals in the Ontario towns of Oshawa, Whitby, Scugog and Clarington. The organization was created in November 1997 to oversee Memorial Hospital Bowmanville, North Durham Health Services (consisting of the Community Memorial Hospital Port Perry and the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital), Oshawa General Hospital and Whitby General Hospital.
The corporation was responsible for the amalgamation of Durham health services under the Common Sense Revolution of the Mike Harris government. It consolidated their holdings into five hospital sites - Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Lakeridge Health Port Perry, Lakeridge Health Uxbridge and Lakeridge Health Whitby. Lakeridge Health Uxbridge was subsequently transferred to the Markham Stouffville Hospital in 2004.
