Lake View is a city in Sac County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,278 at the 2000 census.

Lake View is located at (42.307049, -95.047394)[1].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.1 square miles (5.5 km²), of which, 1.8 square miles (4.8 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²) of it (13.27%) is water.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,278 people, 571 households, and 360 families residing in the city. The population density was 696.4 people per square mile (268.2/km²). There were 818 housing units at an average density of 445.8/sq mi (171.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.06% White, 0.39% African American, 0.08% Native American, and 0.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.23% of the population.
There were 571 households out of which 22.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.6% were married couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.8% were non-families. 33.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.75.
In the city the population was spread out with 20.7% under the age of 18, 4.4% from 18 to 24, 19.7% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 28.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females there were 87.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $26,691, and the median income for a family was $33,333. Males had a median income of $26,932 versus $19,773 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,857. About 9.5% of families and 13.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 24.0% of those under age 18 and 8.5% of those age 65 or over.

Lake View has one school, a combined middle and high school, called Wall Lake View Auburn. The school's mascot is a wolverine. Starting in August of 2007, it will combine with Sac City schools and become known as East Sac County. Their mascot will be the Raiders. The superintendent is Barb Kruthoff. The principal of the high school is Kevin Litterer. The principal of the elementary school is Nick Sauers. There are more than 20 teachers in the high school.
