Lake Velence is the third largest lake in Hungary. It is a famous holiday resort among Hungarians.
The lake's area is 26 km², but one third of it is covered by cane. Because of the rife sunshine, and the shallowness, it is on of the hottest lakes of Europe: the temperature of the water in summer even amounts 26 to 28 °C.
