Is the proposed notation

L(n,k)=\left\lfloor\begin{matrix} n \\ k \end{matrix}\right\rfloor

standard? Or do authors generally content themselves with L(n,k)?

[edit] Combinatorial interpretation

In the combinatorial interpretation, the description "in such a way that all elements of the same subset are linearly ordered" doesn't seem to match, say, L(3,1) including {(132)}, which appears not to be "linearly ordered".
